Crazier Eights: Alternate Edition Print & Play

new look second edition assetsI made a fantasy card game loosely based on Crazy Eights (the game Uno is based on) called Crazier Eights. Every card can be played for an effect. It is now up for sale. Go here if you would like to buy a copy. I also put up a print & play version of the Alternate Edition prototype, which can be found here.

I also made two spoilers, which shows all the cards used in two different versions of Crazier Eights:

Crazier Eights is on Kickstarter

crazier1I am trying to publish my own game for the first time. One of the best ways to try to publish a game is to use Kickstarter, which lets people pledge money for having the game made (including manufacturing costs). With enough money, people who make a pledge can get a copy of the game, and the game will be manufactured.

Crazier Eights is a fantasy card game that is similar to Crazier Eights (the game Uno is based on). You take turns drawing a card, playing a card for an effect, and discarding a card that has the same color or rank as the top card of the discard pile.

That means that this is your chance to get a game I made. You can go here to see the Crazier Eights Kickstarter page. You can also find a lot of information about Crazier Eights at CrazierEights.com

Spell Battle: A Free Combat-Oriented Fantasy Card Game

spell battle logo

Spell Battle is a free customizable card game using medieval art (based on Tarot Combat but also similar to Magic: the Gathering in many ways). There are 120 different cards, and a collection of three of each card is enough for a group of eight people to create eight unique decks.

Spell Battle is a combat-oriented card game where players can each make a unique deck. Players can then use their deck to take turns playing spell and character cards, and attacking with their characters.

Spell Battle is my attempt to have a customizable combat-oriented card game that could have existed in the middle ages. What if people originally played combat-oriented card games using playing cards or tarot cards? The next step could be to have unique cards used to make customizable decks. Games like this could have eventually led to the development of Magic: the Gathering hundreds of years later.

I started making Spell Battle in March 2013 (almost five months ago), but it is quite similar to Tarot Combat, which I made not long before that. It has been playtested quite a bit.

Tarot Combat II: Character Card Expansion

The Character card expansion includes an additional 22 cards that can be added to the deck (for a total of 100 cards). I will explain how the new character cards function and provide free downloads of high resolution images here. Continue reading

Tarot Combat II Cards in High Resolution

052Tarot Combat is a battle-oriented game using a tarot deck. Go here for more information.

Playing the original Tarot Combat game requires players to know what each card does, which can be difficult for new players. That’s why I have created cards specifically to be used for Tarot Combat, which is a new version I call “Tarot Combat II.” Each card says what it does on it. The soldier cards each has a score used for the cost, strength, and speed; and each trump card has a unique effect on the game. All of the cards are all available here for free. These cards are basically a tarot deck, but all the cards say what they do on them for the Tarot Combat game.

Tarot Combat: A Battle-Oriented Game Using A Tarot Deck

Wheel of Fortune Tarot CardA Tarot deck is pretty much the same thing as a regular playing card deck, except it has four court cards (Jack, Cavalier, Queen, and King), and it has 22 trump cards. Tarot is famous for being used by fortune tellers, but they were originally used for games.

I posted the rules for “Combat,” a card game using regular playing cards. “Tarot Combat” is almost the same game, except there are less soldier cards that have special abilities. Instead, there’s 22 “trump cards” with special abilities. Also, these cards can be played any time. You can play special ability cards during the opponent’s turn. Continue reading

Free High Resolution Tarot Deck

Death Tarot Card

Tarot cards are famous for being used by fortune tellers, but they were originally used to play games.

I created a high resolution tarot card deck using public domain images and some creations of my own. The main idea of the deck is that most of the cards are regular playing cards (Ace, Jack, Queen, King, etc.). A tarot deck technically uses a regular deck of cards plus 22 additional “trump” (major arcana) cards that have colorful images on them. The inspiration of this deck is that theĀ  regular cards look like the playing cards we are familiar with in the USA. Continue reading
